Do you wish to know how to reset the Geeni Camera? It’s nothing too complicated. You need to press the reset button and hold it for a certain amount of time before the reset process starts.
If you want a cost-effective Wi-Fi security camera with fewer cut corners and some decent features across the board, you can do worse than Geeni Cameras. In particular, the Geeni Look offers both sound and motion detection, local storage, and colorful HD video in one neat package.
However, if you have connectivity issues, you also need to know how to reset geeni camera. This helps fix any disconnection issues, glitches, and software errors
How to Reset Greeni Camera?
To do a Geeni Cam factory settings reset, hold the reset button on the device for 5 seconds. This timeframe is pretty quickly relative to other cameras that ask you to press and hold the button for 10 to 15 seconds or even 30 seconds.
After the reset process is done, you’ll get confirmation by a voice prompt. A reset camera will have all customizations removed. You’ll have to setup the Greeni camera from scratch.
This means you have to connect it to the app and add the camera there. Deal with the cam like it’s been taken fresh off the box.
What is the Greeni Camera?
The Geeni Camera is a line of Wi-Fi cameras known for their affordability and dependability. They can do both motion and sound detection. In particular, the Geeni Look is worth a look as a $50 deal of sorts.
The Geeni Look also offers colorful Full HD video with amazing sharpness and contrast, local storage, and so forth. In short, it doesn’t cut corners in order to remain affordable. However, the $50 deal doesn’t interact with other smart devices in your home and its audio quality needs improvement.
You won’t need to pay for cloud storage fees for it due to the video getting stored on your microSD card or phone. However, unlike Ring, the Geeni Look doesn’t interact with other smart home devices, which might be a deal-breaker for some.
Pros and Cons of the Geeni Camera
Unlike other cams, the Geeni Look doesn’t cut corners on video quality or storage options. You don’t even need cloud storage with it. However, its lack of smart device interaction might rub other users the wrong way. Then again, if you don’t use that service in your other cams, this becomes a non-issue.
Other cams from Arlo, Ring, and Wyze include Alexa voice commands and IFTTT applet support. Wyze in particular offers mechanical pan and tilt, motion tracking, and time-lapse recording. To wit:
- Sharp 1080p video.
- Quite the affordable cam.
- It’s an easy-to-install device.
- It features local video storage.
- Its audio is kind of fuzzy.
- The camera doesn’t interact with other smart devices.
- It lacks support for voice commands and IFTTT applet.
Geeni Camera Design and Features
Geeni Look looks great. It comes with a thin stem with a 2-inch round base supporting a matte black, puck-shaped cam housing that’s 2 inches wide and 1.2 inches thick. It’s modernist and stylish in a minimalist sense at the same time.
The stem also offers you the ability to bend the cam at 90 degrees. This means you can get all the best viewing angles due to its flexibility. However, make sure it’s bent using the included round adhesive pad in order to connect th base to the surface you wish it’s mounted on.
If not, the camera could tip over when push comes to shove. When it’s standing in an upright position, the camera can go as tall as 4.4 inches.
Geeni Camera Full HD Video, Night Vision, and 802.11n Radio
Unlike Funlux, which is limited to 720p HD, The Geeni Look has a video resolution of 1080p Full HD. It also helps that its sharp video also offers 120-degree field of view. You can see the tiny details of every second of the video while having a POV that’s limits your blind spots when everything is said and done.
It also utilizes infrared (IR) LED, which provides you night vision in black and white. It even has a microphone and speaker for two-way audio (not available in Funlux). The camera also offers 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection through an 802.11n radio.
It also has motion and sound sensors that activate the camera when there are intruders around. You can set the sensitivity so that it detects people instead of the wind or small stray animals.
Geeni Camera MicroUSB Port and MicroSD Slot
You can power the camera with its microUSB port and the included power adapter. The adapter stretches across 39 inches with its cable. The Geeni Look cam also has a reset button at its back you can push for 5 seconds to reset the cam.
Be careful when pressing it because it only takes 5 seconds for it to activate the restore to factory settings process. If you put in a microSD card into the microSD slot on the right side of the device, it will constantly record video that you can view saved onto the card until it’s full.
Controlling Your Geeni Camera with the Mobile App
The camera uses the same mobile app as other Geeni devices like the Spot Plug and Lux Bulb. Even if it can’t connect with other smart devices it does interface with the other cams on the same mobile app network.
When using your Geeni app, you’ll get to see tabs for available devices or cams. This on top of local weather conditions in your area. It has active “Scenes” you can control with a single tap. Below these “Scenes” is each installed Geeni device. Tap the Geeni Look camera tab in order to see its livestream.
You can view the stream in full screen buy turning your phone sideways like you would with your phone camera. You’ll also see controls for recorded video playback, snapshots, two-way audio, and manual video recording.
Things to Keep in Mind
You only need to hold the reset button for 5 seconds in order to reset the Geeni back to factory settings. You might need to do so if you’re having issues with disconnection and miscellaneous errors.
